Kolkata-bound passengers faced a tragic delay at Chennai airport after a fellow traveler died moments before takeoff on an IndiGo flight. The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday, just before the 3:05 pm scheduled departure. Airport sources confirmed the death but chose not to disclose the deceased passenger’s identity out of respect for privacy.
Soon after the death was declared, all passengers were instructed to disembark from the aircraft. As a health protocol, the entire aircraft was disinfected before being cleared for further operation. The flight eventually departed for Kolkata at 4:30 pm after completing all necessary procedures.
In a separate medical emergency on the same day, another IndiGo flight from Abu Dhabi made an early landing in Chennai. The pilot responded to a passenger’s distress call and coordinated with air traffic control to arrange an ambulance in advance. The flight touched down at 10:08 am, and the ailing passenger was swiftly transported to a hospital.
These back-to-back incidents highlighted the importance of quick emergency response systems in aviation. IndiGo airlines and airport authorities were praised for their professional handling of both situations, ensuring minimal disruption and prioritizing passenger safety.
