Chennai to Launch 'Anna Ride Booking' App by July-End

Chennai is gearing up to revolutionize public transport with the launch of its much-anticipated Anna Ride Booking app, expected to roll out officially by the end of July. Developed by the Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA), this all-in-one travel app aims to simplify commuting by integrating Metro Rail, MTC buses, autorickshaws, and Namma Yatri cabs into a single platform.

Currently in its trial phase, Anna Ride Booking allows users to enter their starting point and destination, choose their preferred modes of transport, and pay directly through the app. A unified QR code is generated for seamless access to multiple services, removing the need for multiple tickets or apps.

Trials are already running on Metro and MTC buses, while efforts are underway to include suburban and MRTS trains, pending final approval from Indian Railways. Additionally, CUMTA is collaborating with MTC to ensure real-time tracking and accurate bus timings, reducing wait times for daily commuters.

Regular travelers like S. Ramesh from Mogappair believe this could be a game changer. “If this app fixes bus and train timing issues, it’ll benefit thousands,” he said.

Despite earlier delays, Anna Ride Booking is on track to become a key mobility tool, promising to redefine urban commuting in Chennai.
