MTC advisory has been issued prioritizing student safety as schools across Tamil Nadu reopen from June 2. The Metropolitan Transport Corporation has instructed all drivers and conductors to strictly follow safety measures to ensure the well-being of school-going children during transit.
As per the official advisory, bus crews must open doors only after the vehicle comes to a complete stop at designated halts. Moreover, the rear doors should be firmly closed before resuming the journey. This crucial rule aims to prevent students from risking injury by boarding or getting off the bus while it is still in motion.
The MTC advisory also emphasizes that if students are seen standing dangerously on the footboard, drivers should immediately stop at a safe location and instruct them to board properly. Only after all students are safely inside should the bus continue its route.
This initiative comes as part of MTC’s commitment to enhancing safety and discipline during school hours. The corporation has also urged parents to educate children on bus safety etiquette. With thousands of students depending on public transport daily, the advisory sets a necessary precedent for prioritizing youth safety in urban mobility.
