Zoom Communications, Inc. has started its cloud-based telephony service, Zoom Phone in Chennai, expanding to Tamil Nadu. This comes on the back of the company’s launch in Maharashtra in October 2024 to provide businesses with an uninterrupted communication solution with AI enhancements. Zoom Phone enables organizations to route calls through the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and replace legacy PBX systems. It is a comprehensive product that can be used with other communication tools from Zoom, making it a go-to for contemporary organizations. The unique feature of Zoom Phone is the Zoom AI Companion: An AI-driven assistant that comes at no additional charge to paid Zoom accounts. It offers useful features like summaries of calls, priority voicemail, and extraction of tasks to assist businesses in enhancing their operations. Velchamy Sankarlingam, the president of product and engineering at Zoom noted his enthusiasm about the Chennai launch. “We are very excited to launch Zoom Phone in Chennai, a significant technology hub. Business enterprises of Chennai will derive advantage from the ease of use, flexibility and AI-based features of Zoom Phone,” he said. He highlighted India as a significant market for Zoom and stated that the company is committed to providing solution that is applicable in India and at the same time meets the requirements of a global company. Zoom is looking to expand its presence in India’s business communication space. Zoom Phone is intended for both multinationals and local companies to provide security, ease, and flexibility to address the increasing telephony requirements in the region.
